The band reminisce about the exciting early days of an inevitably doomed relationship on latest One More Time offering
Blink-182 are hung up big time on their new song, “Fell in Love,” the latest offering from the band’s upcoming album, One More Time.
“Fell in Love” is a bit of jangly alterna-pop, the bright guitars paired with some effervescent synths. Tom DeLonge and Mark Hoppus share vocal duties, reminiscing about those exciting, slightly stupid moments in an early relationship — until the inevitable hammer of doom drops: “It’s fucking with my head/Now we can never pretend, we can only be friends/Remember the time, we fell in love.”
Blink-182 have already shared five songs from One More Time, which marks the first LP from the band’s classic lineup — DeLonge, Hoppus, and Travis Barker — in 12 years. The LP will include “Edging,” the song the band shared last October when they announced their reunion, as well as more recently-released songs “One More Time,” “More Than You Know,” and “Dance With Me” (which was billed as a “love letter” to one of Blink’s biggest influences, the Ramones).
One More Time is set to arrive on Oct. 20. The last album the band’s classic lineup released together was 2011’s Neighborhoods; following DeLonge’s departure in 2015, Blink-182 released two albums with Matt Skiba, 2016’s California and 2019’s Nine. The new album was recorded largely during Blink-182’s lengthy reunion tour this year. The group is in the midst of a European and U.K. run that was briefly interrupted last month when Barker flew home to be with wife, Kourtney Kardashian, as she recovered from emergency fetal surgery.
Blink-182 have additional tour dates scheduled in Australia, New Zealand, Peru, and Mexico for 2024.
