- Despite not wrestling, Ripley’s presence on Raw maintains anticipation for her return to the ring.
Despite showing up on Raw and having a big part in the show, it has been confirmed that Rhea Ripley, a key figure in storylines leading up to her match at SummerSlam, is not medically cleared for in-ring action. According to Mike Johnson of PWInsider.com, Ripley’s in-ring return at SummerSlam is a go, but she has yet to be “100 percent cleared” for physical activity. Consequently, Ripley is not expected to wrestle or engage in any physical altercations until the major event.
Ripley And Liv Morgan Did Everything But Fight On Raw
During this week’s episode of Raw, Ripley made her presence felt through an in-ring promo alongside Dominik Mysterio and several backstage segments. However, she did not come face-to-face with Liv Morgan. Instead, Morgan responded to Ripley’s threats via the big screen. When tensions rose and the two seemed ready for a confrontation in the arena, Morgan strategically retreated through the crowd, avoiding any physical clash. This careful scripting aligns with WWE’s plan to keep Ripley out of physical storylines until she is fully cleared to compete.
Ripley’s dramatic return to WWE programming last week marked the end of a three-month absence due to a shoulder injury sustained in an attack by Liv Morgan in April, which forced her to vacate her Women’s World Championship. Initially, there were plans for Ripley’s return to be timed with SummerSlam or the Raw episode following the event. However, WWE decided to schedule Ripley’s title match against Morgan at the “Biggest Party of the Summer” in advance. This decision likely stems from Ripley’s confidence in her recovery timeline, indicating she expects to be fully healed by August 3.

Ripley Is Still A Huge Part Of Raw, Even If She Doesn’t Wrestle
During Raw, Ripley expressed her determination to reclaim the title she never lost, challenging Morgan to face her at SummerSlam. More than that though, several scenes with Ripley and Dom, or Ripley and Judgment Day kept her a big part of the program without a match. Expect that kind of booking to continue as the soap opera drama rolls along until the premium live event. Although Ripley’s physical involvement is on hold, her presence on Raw continues to build anticipation for her return to the ring.
Eventually, Ripley will get her match and a chance to make good on her fierce proclamation that she would end Morgan’s revenge tour, title reign, and career.
