SINGER-SONGWRITER Taylor Swift has finally addressed the months-long speculation about her relationship with Kansas City Chiefs tight end Travis Kelce: yes, they are dating.
Swift confirmed this in an interview with Time magazine, which named her Person of the Year for 2024. She made history as the first woman to appear twice on a Person of the Year cover since the franchise began in 1927. Swift was also named Person of the Year in 2017 along with other Silence Breakers who spoke out about sexual misconduct.
Revealing the real score between her and the football player, Swift said that their relationship could be traced back to “when Travis very adorably put me on blast on his podcast, which I thought was metal as hell.”
It can be recalled that Kelce discussed his attendance in one of “The Eras Tour” shows in Kansas City in a July episode of the New Heights podcast that he hosted with his brother, Philadelphia Eagles center Jason Kelce.
Travis revealed at the time that he was planning to hand Swift a bracelet that he made which bore his phone number.
“We started hanging out right after that. So we actually had a significant amount of time that no one knew, which I’m grateful for, because we got to get to know each other,” the 12-time Grammy winner recalled.
Dating rumors continued when the 33-year-old pop sensation was seen for the first time attending the Kansas City Chiefs’ game against Chicago Bears on September 24 at Arrowhead Stadium. In a clip posted by Fox Sports on X (formerly Twitter), Swift was seen sitting next to the football player’s mother, Donna Kelce, as they cheered for the Chiefs.
Swift confirmed to Time: “By the time I went to that first game, we were a couple.”
“I think some people think that they saw our first date at that game? We would never be psychotic enough to hard launch a first date,” she added.
The 33-year-old pop star also talked openly about how her relationship with the Chiefs’ tight end went in the past few months.
“When you say a relationship is public, that means I’m going to see him do what he loves, we’re showing up for each other, other people are there and we don’t care,” she said.
She continued, “The opposite of that is you have to go to an extreme amount of effort to make sure no one knows that you’re seeing someone. And we’re just proud of each other.”
Since September 24, Swift has been attending the Chiefs’ games including the recent December 3 fight against the Green Bay Packers.
Kelce, on the other hand, has also been showing up at “The Eras Tour,” including the November 11 show in Buenos Aires, Argentina.
The headline-making concert is set to return in 2024.
