LAWRENCEVILLE, New York – The Marist women’s basketball team aims to snap its nine-game skid, as the Red Foxes travel to take on MAAC foe Rider on Saturday. Tip-off from Alumni Gymnasium is set for 1 p.m. on ESPN+.

 

  • Lengthy scoring droughts doomed the Red Foxes, as the Marist women’s basketball team came up short at home, 72-57, Thursday evening inside McCann Arena.
  • Zaria Shazer led the Red Foxes with 13 points and 10 rebounds for a double-double.
  • Jackie Piddock added 11 points off the bench.
  • Julia Corsentino tallied nine points in the loss, while Ciara Croker totaled eight points of her own.

 

  • Freshman guard Julia Corsentino has proven to be a reliable scoring option for the Red Foxes in her rookie campaign.
  • She’s averaging 5.8 points per game.
  • Corsentino has reached double figures in scoring in six contests this season.
  • She scored a career-high 23 points against Lafayette on Nov. 15, knocking down a career-best four three-pointers in the process.
  • Corsentino added three steals, two assists and two rebounds against the Leopards and was later named the MAAC Rookie of the Week on Nov. 20.
  • She tallied a career-high four steals against Niagara on Feb. 17.
  • She tallied 1,424 points in high school.
  • She knocked down a school best 235 three-pointers in her varsity career.

 

  • Senior Zaria Shazer tallied 27 points and eight rebounds to lead Marist women’s basketball past MAAC foe Rider at home, 65-55, on Jan. 11 inside of McCann Arena.
  • Kiara Fisher added 13 points, nine rebounds, and five assists in the victory, while Lexie Tarul contributed eight points to help Marist earn its first MAAC victory of the 2023-24 season.
  • The win was the first MAAC victory for Head Coach Erin Doughty.
  • The win snapped a 10-game losing streak for the Red Foxes.

  • Rider is led by Lynn Milligan, who boasts 205 wins in her 17th season with the Broncs.
  • Rider enters the matchup at 8-16 on the season and 5-10 in the MAAC.
  • The Broncs are riding a three-game win streak into the contest.
  • Rider downed Saint Peter’s in Lawrenceville, 59-48, in its last time out this past Thursday.
  • Taylor Langan leads the Broncs in scoring (14.8 ppg) and rebounding (8.6 rpg), while teammate Makayla Firebaugh is averaging 11.6 points per game, respectively. 

 

  • The Red Foxes will be back in action on Thursday, Feb. 29, when Marist continues MAAC play on the road against Siena.Tip-off is set for 7 p.m. inside the UHY Center on ESPN+.
