Women’s Lacrosse drops road matchup with Crimson Hawks
The Gannon University women’s lacrosse team dropped its PSAC West road matchup with IUP inside George P. Miller Stadium Saturday afternoon, 19-7.
The Golden Knights dropped to 2-5 in the PSAC West (4-8 overall) while IUP improved to 4-3 in the PSAC West (5-7 overall).
How it Happened
- The Crimson Hawks opened the contest jumping out to a 4-0 lead in the opening quarter.
- The final minute of the first quarter saw the Golden Knights’ trim IUP’s lead, 4-2.
- Madyson Schwartz (Philadelphia, Pa./Franklin Towne Charter) tallied Gannon’s first goal of the contest (1:01) off an assist from McKenna Woodworth (Horseheads, N.Y./Horseheads).
- Gannon found the back of the net again, this time 42 seconds later from Caroline Stevens (Syracuse, N.Y./Liverpool) (0:19).
- The Crimson Hawks used four unanswered goals in the second quarter to pull ahead, 8-2.
- The Golden Knights clawed their way back into the contest netting three unanswered goals to draw within three goals of IUP, 8-5.
- McKenna Woodworth (Horseheads, N.Y./Horseheads) and Caroline Stevens (Syracuse, N.Y./Liverpool) cut the IUP lead down, 8-4. Woodworth struck at the 6:10 mark, while Stevens tallied her second goal of the contest with 5:17 remaining. Stevens goal was assisted by Woodworth, her second of the game.
- Skyler Parsons (Reading, Pa./Exeter Twp.) scored Gannon’s final goal of the half off an assist from Angie George (Brecksville, Ohio/Archbishop Hoban).
- The Crimson Hawks scored back-to-back goals in the final 90 seconds of the half to take a 10-5 lead heading into the break.
- IUP used a five-goal surge and held the Golden Knights to a scoreless third quarter to take a 15-5 advantage heading into the final quarter.
- Maggie McGinnis (Brunswick, Ohio/Brunswick) and Woodworth tallied Gannon’s final tallies of the game.
- IUP added five more goals in the fourth to secure the 19-7 PSAC victory.

- Gannon finished the contest with seven goals, 20 shots,19 ground balls,13 draw controls, and eight caused turnovers.
- Caroline Stevens (Syracuse, N.Y./Liverpool) and McKenna Woodworth (Horseheads, N.Y./Horseheads) led the Golden Knight offense with two goals apiece.
- Woodworth also dished out two assists and picked up two ground balls.
- Stevens also scooped up two ground balls and grabbed nine draw controls.
- Angie George (Brecksville, Ohio/Archbishop Hoban) and Charlie Hunter (Boston, N.Y./Hamburg) each added an assist.
- Madyson Schwartz (Philadelphia, Pa./Franklin Towne Charter) and Maggie McGinnis (Brunswick, Ohio/Brunswick) found the back of the net each adding one goal to the contest.
- Riley Finnegan (Oviedo, Fla./Oviedo) secured eight saves in 60 minutes of action in between the pipes.
- Chantal Jimenez led all scorers with three goals for IUP.
