PROVIDENCE, R.I. – Following her standout and heroic performances in Brown’s two games over the weekend, senior guard Kyla Jones has been named the Ivy League’s Player of the Week, the league announced on Monday.

Jones averaged 18.5 points, 6.5 rebounds, 2.5 assists and 1.5 steals per game, while shooting 45.9 percent from the floor in Brown’s two games against Princeton and Penn. She scored her 1,000th career point in the opening minutes against Penn on Saturday, then sank the game-winning bucket with 1.5 seconds left to give the Bears a huge 61-59 win, moving them into sole possession of fourth place in the Ivy League standings, the final qualifying spot for the upcoming Ivy Madness tournament.

Jones’ performance was crucial in the Bears’ victory, as she scored 12 of her game-high 22 points in the fourth quarter and connected on six of her final seven field goal attempts, helping Brown close the game on a 10-2 run.

This marks the second time Jones has been named Player of the Week by the Ivy League, having previously won the award on November 27.

With four games remaining in the regular season, Jones and the Bears will head to Harvard this Saturday at 2 p.m. for a big showdown with the Crimson.
